Welcome to Vivid World Psychology

I’m Vivi Hua, Psy.D. The Founder and Director of Vivid World Psychology. Many people I work with know me as a psychologist, a therapist, and a success coach for international students.

With the launch of this new website (formerly DrViviHua.com), I’m announcing the integration of my expanded psychology practice (see Our Team below) and my international student coaching practice.

Born and raised in Taiwan, I came to the U.S. in 2006 as an international student to pursue my graduate training in school-clinical child psychology. This was not simply a journey to advance my education and professional training; it had a much more profound personal meaning to me - I was reaching a place in my life where leaving home was the only option for me to build a future that would ultimately feel liberating, empowering, and healthy.

With many years of experience in medical, community, school, and foster care settings while pursuing my personal growth in the process, I came to develop a deep understanding of human nature, desires, and critical elements of what makes a professional truly connect with her clients and what makes her work impactful.

Through my psychology and coaching practices in the last few years, I’ve had the privilege to support many students, professionals, couples, and families on their journey toward healing and growth.

My mission has been to empower individuals, regardless of their cultural background, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability, to be their authentic self and to break free of any fear, worry, or anxiety, as a result of individual, societal, or systemic forces of oppression.

If everyone in this world is empowered to be their most authentic self, there will be no fear of judgement, no place for oppression, and the world will only reflect each person’s most vibrant and vivid personality.

It was with this mission and vision in mind that I expanded into a group practice – Vivid World Psychology – to provide more access to quality care and services for individuals, families, and couples.

Our Team

Our team members are hand-picked and rigorously vetted based on our values and commitment to excellent care – so you don’t have to worry about finding a “good” therapist or provider and can just focus on your own healing and growth.

Below is a brief introduction to our current team member (new addition coming shortly):

Josiah Teng, MA, MHC-LP, joined Vivid World Psychology in February 2022. Josiah brought with him experience from major clinical & research institutions as well as non profit organizations that serve underprivileged communities in NYC.

As a therapist of color, Josiah is well versed in the specific sets of societal and systematic challenges unique to minorities in the U.S., and is particularly passionate about helping individuals navigate themes of identity and explore how they intersect with cultural values and behavior norms.

Josiah is gentle and empathic in his clinical approach. He has been a great addition to Vivid World Psychology and an active contributor to the general public’s understanding of mental health. I look forward to the positive changes he’ll continue to bring to many individuals, students, and professionals that come to the practice.

What To Expect?

Vivid World Psychology will continue to take a deep and thoughtful approach to both therapy and coaching, as this is how our work can be most impactful.

We take pride in effectively helping individuals resolve issues in their immediate contexts and compassionately supporting them in overcoming any deeper, repeating patterns that no longer serve them. I invite you to take a look at some of the feedback from clients we’ve worked with.

In addition to therapy and coaching services, we also accept invitations from schools, universities, and corporate and non-profit organizations for speaking engagements and workshops. See a list of selected organizations we’ve collaborated with.

As with what we’ve offered through Dr. Vivi Coaching, to help life feel a little easier, the Vivid World Psychology Team will continue to provide you with helpful tips on a regular basis. If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to sign up for our newsletters at the bottom of this page and share with your friends and loved ones about it!
