Many people around the world, unfortunately, experience one form of trauma or another during their life journeys. It can be neglect or abandonment as a young child, physical/sexual abuse, or domestic violence from parents, significant others, or intimate partners. These experiences of trauma often leave emotional scars on individuals and prevent them from establishing trusting and meaningful relationships with new people in their lives. It often requires a great deal of courage from the individual to start addressing their trauma.
